Prison correspondence is undoubtedly important and something I’m very passionate about, but so is the safety of those involved on both sides of the fence. Especially yours. Discovering a prison pen-pal is as easy as following us on TikTok: @prisonbaes and IG: @_prisonbaes_, but once you find someone, you’re willing to write to please understand that you should A-L-W-A-Y-S do background checks. After all, criminal records are public information.

Many pen-pal companies say they don’t publish sex offender profiles, but the truth is they aren’t able to catch every sex offender that tries to post their profile. Example: A person can be in prison for . . . let’s say assault, but 10 years ago this same person was convicted for a sex offense in a different state than where they’re held currently for a separate unrelated conviction.

NOT ALL SEX OFFENDERS ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER AS ONE. A quick check will normally show only what a person is currently incarcerated for in that state, make sure you look deeper than their current conviction. The last thing I want is for anyone to be misled. Prisoners are people too, and with that said there are some sketchy people out there and in here.

If you discover a person on our socials that’s been convicted of a sex offense, no matter if you feel/think they’re innocent or not, please let us know! We will take their profile/posting down temporarily and if they are indeed a sex offender, we will permanently remove them and make sure they won’t be posted on any of our platforms in the future. Right now, we are understaffed so help us by notifying us!
